  I am a patient. She is very thorough, which is not a bad thing necessarily. I didn't like that she charges for everything outside of the appt. I haven't had my medication in over a month because of the back and forth between her and insurance. I need a preauthorization form from her but she won't give it unless I pay 50 dollars. I asked her to prescribe something similar, but they never offered a solution to that request. Had her for probably 4 years now.

  I was excited to have been given the recommendation of Dr. Weiss and when I tried to book an appt over the phone I was asked to fill out her forms on her website. Here she clearly lays out the actual cost of seeing her as an insured patient. Refill request? $25, $10 after. $100 to fill out a "long" form. Call the office with a question? And it goes on and on. For $375 a year, ($31 per month), you can have all of these fees waived. In an audio clip, she attempts a noble speech about standing up to the insurance companies, but in truth she is passing the cost onto the insured patient. Instead she should state, "In order to continue to give my current WEALTHY patients and my future WEALTHY patients the best care...., I will continue to accept insurance ..." It's her practice, and she has the absolute right to do as she pleases, but once again, a talented doctor ends up catering to the wealthy and privileged of our society, which Encinitas happens to have a plethora of these days. When I read her bio on Scripps and some reviews, I was very optimistic. When I read her website, I realized that I am not the type of patient her practice seeks: insured but definitively middle class.
